The founder of Timberland, a Boston brand, was Nathan Swartz. In 1962 he bought shares in a small, Boston shoe company, and shortly after that he became its owner. In the ’60s, he began shoe production using an innovative method – a seamless joining of the upper of the shoe with a sole. After years of testing the new model, Sidney Swartz introduced to its coworkers a shoe dedicated to them, Model 10061. The solidly made and characteristic shoe has gained popularity not only in the country but also all around the world, and the brand got its name in the shoe’s honor.
